Ditzingen is a large district town centrally located in the state of Baden-Württemberg, bordering on the north-west of Stuttgart and is the fifth largest town in the district of Ludwigsburg. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the A81 Heilbronn-Stuttgart-Singen highway, directly at the Stuttgart-Feuerbach exit. The B 295 Stuttgart-Leonberg-Calw also runs through the city center. Ditzingen station is connected to the rail network via the Schwarzwaldbahn Weil der Stadt, which is served by the S6 and S60 lines of the Stuttgart S-Bahn. Local public transport is served by several bus lines. Stuttgart International Airport is located about 25 km away in Leinfelden-Echterdingen.
With a population of around 25,000, it is a modern industrial town in Baden Württemberg. The mechanical engineering, publishing and printing industries are particularly well represented. The largest company is the mechanical engineering firm Trumpf with around 11,000 employees. The dealer cooperation "Euronics Deutschland" is also of supra-regional importance with around 1800 employees. Ditzingen is also home to many medium-sized companies, such as the oil mill or the
car spare parts wholesaler "Autoteile Ditzingen GmbH". It is also the headquarters of the pasta manufacturer "Bürger". Loba GmbH & Co KG, founded in 1922, is one of the traditional companies in the chemical industry.
In 2014, the new German headquarters of "Thales Deutschland" was opened, with over 1400 employees, a new building complex with a usable area of 51,500 square meters and state-of-the-art building technology was built.
The important district town has a grammar school, a secondary school, a special school and two elementary school in the town center. Other schools are located in the Heimerdingen and Hirschlanden districts.
