Herne Wanne-South
The southern part of the city is located about five kilometers southwest of Herne city center. The standard of services and housing here is traditionally better than in the northern districts of Wanne. The main street, which is considered the supply center, leads into the old city center, the Eickler Markt. Grouped around a small pedestrian zone are the administrative offices of Hülsmann AG, a new terraced housing district with interesting architecture and the former Bauerei, as well as several restaurants and pubs. Eickel's most popular residential area is located around the Volksgarten, but people also like to live further north around the sports park. On the site of the former Königsgrube colliery, in the far south, there is a beautifully landscaped park. A40, A43, A2, A42 in the immediate vicinity, bus and partly S-Bahn R. Bo Hbf and Herne Bf.
