As a former independent town, Gelsenkirchen’s Buer district forms one of the two economic, administrative, cultural and infrastructural centres of the town of Gelsenkirchen. It is also home to the well-known companies Gelsenwasser, E.ON, BP, among others. Furthermore, Buer has an attractive centre, offering a good number of shops and restaurants. Transport connections are good. The A2 and A52 motorways are in the vicinity. Buer has a bus station with connections to neighbouring towns and cities, and a tram to Gelsenkirchen’s main rail station and then on to Bochum.
