Our bungalow 1 hipped roof offers everything a small family needs to live and feel at home on a living space of 107 m². The combined living/dining room is generously proportioned and, thanks to three glass doors to the garden, is beautifully bright. The kitchen, which is accessible from the dining room without doors, also offers plenty of space and natural light. The adjoining 10 m² utility room can also be accessed directly from the outside and therefore has a practical use in two respects: Groceries can be taken care of directly in this way and the living areas are spared from possible dirty shoes. The equally spacious hallway connects the living area of the house with the private retreats: the parents' area with bedroom and adjoining dressing room and a light-flooded children's room. A feeling of grandeur
Although everything is on one level, a hipped roof bungalow appears larger than a flat roof bungalow, for example. This is due to the pitch of 18 to 35 degrees, which makes the building appear taller. And the special roof shape also has other advantages. The pitch makes the roof very resistant to wind and rain, it is very stable and offers a lot of space, for example for installing photovoltaic systems.
Incidentally, the hip roof is the oldest roof shape of all. This is proven by excavations of log cabins whose origins can no longer be precisely dated. The hipped roof experienced its heyday in Germany in the 1920s. During this time, it was mainly used on small alpine huts in southern Germany. In the north, it was and is also a popular roof shape: it protects the building from the harsh climate.
In contrast to the pitched roof, the hipped roof has four sloping roof surfaces that meet at the ridge, the so-called hip. While this roof shape already has a prestigious effect on a two-storey building, this effect is even more pronounced on a bungalow with a hipped roof.
