    Wildeck is a municipality in the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg in the north-east of Hesse, directly on the border with Thuringia. The nearest larger towns are Bad Hersfeld (about 25 km to the southwest) and Eisenach (about 25 km to the east).
    Wildeck borders the municipality of Nentershausen (in the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg) and the town of Sontra (in the Werra-Meißner district) to the north, and the Thuringian municipality of Gerstungen (Wartburg district) to the east, in the south-east and south to the Thuringian town of Werra-Suhl-Tal (Wartburg district) with the districts of Berka/Werra, Dankmarshausen and Großensee as well as the town of Heringen, in the south-west to the municipality of Friedewald and in the west to the municipality of Ronshausen (all three in the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg).
