Hamburg Schnelsen
On closer inspection, it quickly becomes clear that Schnelsen is first and foremost a steadily growing residential area, a wild mix of detached houses, a few Wilhelminian-style villas, but also 1970s buildings and commercial yards. The approximately 28,000 residents are spread over nine square kilometers in the northwest of Hamburg - and the population is growing steadily.
Schnelsen is well connected with two highway entrances, while buses and the AKN (Altona-Kaltenkirchen-Neumünster railroad company) provide quick access to Hamburg city center.
Nature and local recreation
Schnelsen impresses with its proximity to nature. Families in particular appreciate the many green spaces and recreational areas right on their doorstep. The Schnelsener Feldmark and the Röthmoorgraben are ideal for walking and cycling and there is a small hiking trail around the idyllic Kollau pond. Amateur anglers will also get their money's worth here, as there are numerous beautiful fishing spots along the entire shoreline. The western and northern edges of the district are bordered by some horse meadows - an almost rural idyll.
Wassermannpark can be described as the green lung of the district. The relatively new park, which was only completed in 1955, covers an area of 28,000 square kilometers and has many water features as well as cycle paths, picnic areas, two playgrounds and much more.
