Schletau, with around 150 inhabitants, is part of the municipality of Lemgo in picturesque Wendland (Lower Saxony) in the nearby Elbtalauen nature reserve. The nearest small towns are Lüchow (17 km) and Arendsee (12 km) with two bathing spots on the lake. Salzwedel is also in the catchment area. The nearest small supermarket is in Schweskau, 5 km away, and an organic farm store is 1 km away in Schmarsau. Other shopping facilities with supermarkets, retail outlets, restaurants and DIY stores can be found in Lüchow, Salzwedel or Arendsee. Schletau is served by a local public transport bus line. The line goes to Lüchow. Otherwise there are only school buses. The rest of the infrastructure is average compared to other districts.
