Mülheim (Selbeck/Saarn districts)
Selbeck is Mülheim’s southernmost district, and is surrounded by greenery. Along its main street, Kölner Straße, you will find bakeries, restaurants and fast food outlets. A supermarket and the neighbouring Saarn district are just a few minutes’ drive away. A tennis club, golf club and hiking routes represent attractive leisure options.
The district of Mülheim with the most beautiful centre is Saarn, to the west of the Ruhr, four kilometres away from the city centre. The long Düsseldorfer Straße offers half-timbered houses and houses dating back to the industrial revolution, as well as shops and restaurants. A walk to the nearby pastures alongside the Ruhr takes you past the Saarn abbey and beautiful detached houses. The B1 main road runs along the district’s eastern border, and the Kreuz Breitscheid motorway junction is around five kilometres to the south. Saarn is also served by several bus routes.
